Sculpting

Originally, I planned to make this entry a tutorial, but I don't think I've reached a point where I can offer anything super useful besides some minor advice. So instead, I redirected this into more of a retrospective on picking up a new hobby of mine. I started sculpting pretty recently. I'd see sculpts here and there online, and it always interested me.

Last year, during the summer of 2025, I finally decided I'd actually do it. I remember it so vividly because I wasted the whole ASS summer sculpting. *dies*

This was the very first sculpt I ever made. ;-; These are the only photos I have of Sugimoto because my niece dropped him and I had to throw him out... Also, he's really just a bootleg of this Sugimoto figure that I wanted lool.

He took two months to complete because I was using this muddy earth clay; specifically this dollarama one . If you're a beginner, PLEASE don't use this stuff. Use polymer clay or foam air-dry clay instead. You'll have a much less stressful sculpting experience, lol.

While I was working on Sugimoto, I also made this Usagi figure! ...which my nephews and nieces also got to, thinking it was a toy. ;_;

After those, I became completely fixated on sculpting BJDs. Besides figures, I absolutely adore dolls, but they're also really expensive, so naturally I thought, "What if I just make one myself?" I sculpted two. The first was Seras Victoria from the 2001 Hellsing adaptation.

I didn't continue further than sculpting her because my boyfriend introduced me to Black Souls II, and I became severely addicted. Naturally, I abandoned everything to make another BJD but of Prickett this time.

Which I surprisingly found in my garage alongside some miniature house models I made a year or two ago!! (I genuinely thought she got thrown out. O_O) I didn't get very far with her either... I got stuck on her hair because I couldn't decide whether to sculpt it or make yarn wefts.

This chibieee of Azami Fukurai was very last thing I sculpted using this poopy-ass dollarama clay before switching to polymer clay. (I found out Dollar Tree sold polymer, joy.) Urban Myth Dissolution Center is such an underrated gem of a game, you guys have to try this game pleasepleaseplease.

I made it my goal to actually finish a figure and not leave it on my shelf to gather dust lul. This time around I decided to try sculpting with foam clay for the first time. Originally, I wanted to make a bootleg of this Rika figure.

...But that was waaay too ambitious. So I remembered what a wise oomf once told me... and decided to make a much simpler Mabel figure instead.

I was honestly so surprised by how decent she turned out?? I absolutely despised her hands and face-up. I was on the verge of throwing everything away, but I kept going for the sake of meeting my goal; to have something to show on this blog.

I actually think keeping this site has made me way more diligent and motivated to finish things. Before I was highkey a fatass and doomscrolling twt or instgram reels for hours instead of doing literally anything productive lol. I'll definitely make a continuation of this another time, to showcasing other things.

I feel like a lot of people go through life without ever picking up a hobby, never realizing how creative they actually are until they make something with their own hands. I love seeing people share the things they create on the internet. Even if they're just beginning, it's really charming.

To end things off, here's one a sneak peek of something I'm making for July 27th...
